On October 31, 1999 one of the most famous of the beast of Bray road accounts was experienced by a woman by the name of Doristine Gipson. She was driving along Bray road and was fiddling with her car radio. She felt her right tire jump then, as if she had hit something. She stopped the vehicle and got out to investigate. She found nothing of consequence on the road, however, as she peered into the darkness she suddenly saw a dark hairy form racing toward her. She couldn’t make out details, but she did notice the creature as being quite bulky, like someone who worked out continually with weights. She heard it's heavy footsteps which startled her and she ran back to her car, attempting to drive away. The beast jumped onto the trunk of her vehicle, however it was too wet, due to recent precipitation, and the beast lost it's grip and slid off onto the pavement. Later that evening Doristine returned to the same location, with a young girl she was taking to trick or treat. They both saw a large form on the side of the road. When she saw the creature begin to move, she ordered the child to lock her door and she drove quickly away. The next day she told a neighbor about the encounter and showed the scratches on her car. As word spread of her encounter, many people came forward with their own accounts that had occurred as far back as 1989.

In the fall of the same year, another woman, 24 year old Lorraine Endrizzi was driving on Bray road when she noticed what looked like a person kneeling and hunched over on the side of the road. She slowed down to get a better look, being no more than six feet away from the creature. The sighting lasted only 45 seconds but he stated clearly that she had seen a beast with grayish brown hair, fangs, pointed ears, and a face described as long and snouty like a wolf. She also remarked about the yellowish glow of the beasts eyes, even though her headlights were pointed straight ahead. She described it as having a wide and powerful looking chest and build.. She went on to add that the arms were rather strange, jointed as a human man's and it seemed to be holding food with it's palms upward just like any other animal. The arms were muscular “like a man who had worked out a little bit.” and it seemed to have human like fingers with claws at the ends. She did not notice a tail, but remarked that the hind legs were behind the creature as it was kneeling, just like a human's would be.

Large media outlets picked up the story and many witnesses suffered practical jokes at their expense. Werewolf signs were planted in yards, and even werewolf parties became a common theme. Tourists began to cruise up and down Bray road, hoping to catch a glimpse of the beast. After time, the excitement died down and the communities tolerance waned. There was still an undercurrent of fear, and people began to whisper about other things as well. The summer before the creature had been reported, about a dozen animals were found dumped in a ditch along Willow road. A Humane officer by the name of John Frederickson believed the animals had been used in some sort of cult ritual. The police chief however, dismissed this idea. Frederickson insisted that the animals throats were slit, their hind legs were tied with rope, and some were even decapitated and dismembered in various ways. The most recent account of a killed animal had it's chest cavity slit open and it's heart removed. Several of the animals matched descriptions of missing local pets, and it was clear they had not simply been hit by cars. The mutilated carcasses were quickly covered up, quite literally as the site had been bulldozed.Yet rumors and whispers continued. Other reports came in that summer, about humane officer imposters who would pursue stray dogs. One incident involved a man in a black uniform who drove a large black car who attempted to intimidate a child that was home alone into giving up his black Labrador.Around this same time, reports of occult graffiti were being found in an abandoned house and the local cemetery. Some tombstones were found to have been covered in candle wax. The abandoned house was located a quarter mile from Bray road. Many begin to speculate that there might be a connection.

The beast sightings did eventually die out, but the strangeness surrounding it all seemed to take a bit longer to fade. In January of 1992, just as the sightings were dying down a local businessman reported that he had seen two bright lights moving erratically across the sky. Later, in the spring several horses had been found with their throats slashed. John Frederickson was quoted as saying “They were almost surgical type wounds” After that, there was little more that happened, everything died down, and became almost eerily quiet.

More recent sightings have been reported in and near Wisconsin and are attributed as being related to the beast of Bray road.
